TOM BRENNAN's BIOGRAPHY

Tom Brennan is the founder and owner of Tom Brennan Media, one of the most respected media placement firms in the US. A comprehensive expert and conscious and active voice and influence on positive and uplifting media coverage and positive content, Mr. Brennan's mission is to encourage the intelligent and literate people within media to stretch themselves and the medium they work for: whether it be Print, TV, Radio or The Internet.

The first challenge overcome was the archetype of the PR hustler, as jabbed into the public eye by such outlandish caricatures as Colin Farrell in "Phone Booth,' and others in the industry he used to work with in "Real Life." Mr. Brennan's essential premise was for all the "slobbered salesmanship" and "bilious overacting," there are a million people within media who prefer Tom Brennan's approach to speaking with them: litereate, respectful, entertaining without being vulgar, and mentally agile.

Mr. Brennan wanted to be sure that he would be heard so he speaks in a way that allows others to listen and gain access to information. Give Time, Not Take Time!

Tom Brennan started his journey in the world in one of the roles that most fulfills his time and effort--as a teacher. Hired by the first successful public alternative school in the US, The Santa Monica Alternative School (home to Jane Fonda's daughter, home to Arnold Schwarzenegger's kids), at the age of 19.

In conjunction with the staff, Mr. Brennan developed many courses for the school, including "Metal Development Through Non-Verbal Communication", and also founded the school paper, The Alternative Times. Teaching many brilliant and open-minded students inspired Mr. Brennan to formulate and co-found a music supplement for The Los Angeles Herald-Examiner, at that time one of the crown jewels in The Hearst Newspaper Empire, at the age of 21. Called Preview West, the supplement was later adapted entirely from Mr. Brennan's specs and implemented by the legendary newspaper man James Bellows, as a Sunday insert that covered the contemporary music scene. Mr. Brennan had asked graphics designer Nan Davison to create the look of the supplement and Brennan and Davison's template is what the public saw. Not receiving as promised, money or credit for the development of the 16-page music tabloid, Mr. Brennan sued and at the age of 22 became probably the youngest person to ever sue Citizen Kane's descendents and WIN!

From there, Mr. Brennan enjoyed a substansial creative career as one of the forces in Los Angeles' rabibly coffee-foaming underground, hosting live readings and music at Congo Square in Santa Monica for three years and distinguishing himself as one of LA's most eloquent spoken word artists. At the same time, he created "Studio 13," a cable TV show that ran for 110 installments over four years and drew up to 1,000,000 viewers on four cable systems a day in Los Angeles County. "Studio 13" was\is "Godard Meets Ernie Kovacs," a classically structured assault on the premises of TV content, and a powerful social critique that championed the individual using media, rather than being used by media.
"Studio 13's" influence is widely seen in Indie Films, TV commericals and music videos, and other forms where a bit of Mr. Brennan's cultural diversity is a welcome thing.

The sense of rallying an informed community of artistic dissenters and cultural leaders culminated in Tom Brennan hanging out his shingle, and then the rest of the entire house, as Tom Brennan Media, a company dedicated to placing people of positive social interest into the major mainstream media. After conquering the underground, now it was time to play the UberKultur to a satisfying draw.

Tom Brennan Media in its seven years of creative and fertile life has introduced clients to The Oprah Show, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, 48 Hours, 60 Minutes, and thousands of other media highlights in this singular quest!

The keystones of this company are: impeccable communication, client success and a distinct and unforgettable variety of fun that serve as models for The New American Workplace.

Tom Brennan is also a distinguished Collage Artist, whose works are conceptually integrated into the overall structure of the Life Mission: that all media can be responsibly and enjoyably used to form a connection to like-minded people who want their work and their leisure to be fulfilling and worthwhile.
